Home of Hope - Auto Raja

The Home of Hope is located in Doddagubbi Village, in the outskirts of Bangalore. The Home is built on a half acre plot of land and was built to accommodate 80 residents. However, today more than 200 residents live here. There are just 80 beds and the kitchen has basic utensils that are used to prepare the meals for residents every day. The land for this home was donated by India Campus Crusade for Christ.

Residents:
The oldest resident here is a 101 year old ‘Tatha' and the youngest is a 1 year old baby. Most of the residents suffer from various illnesses and need constant medical care and attention. Some of them succumb to their illnesses, but those who survive undergo regular treatment to recover completely. For those who recover and are capable of handling responsibilities, simple jobs aroung the campus such as gardening is introduced.

People / Staff:
The Home of Hope is well organized and operates through a team of committed and enthusiastic staff. At present there are 15 staff members and some of them are senior residents of the home who were once rescued by Raja from the streets. Each staff is assigned specific responsibilities around the campus. Providing medication for the sick and dying residents, preparing meals, gardening, house keeping, campus maintenance, vocational training etc are just some of the responsibilities handled by the staff on a daily basis. The staff continue to accomplish their duties with single - mindedness towards fulfilling the aim of the organization.

“I don’t want to see even one destitute on the roads. I want to have 1,000 people in my home. My vision is to see Bangalore free of destitutes and I pray to God to help me in my efforts.” says Raja who envisions a Bangalore that is bereft of beggars and street-dwellers. Raja strives to carry forward his vision as his home is where the future of the homeless lies.
New Ark Mission
The New Ark Mission of India was started in the year 1997 by Mr. T. Raja. It is an organization solely dedicated to rescuing and rebuilding the lives of the destitute and dying people of the streets. The Home of Hope is a centre of the New Ark Mission of India.

Today, the home accommodates and cares for more than 200 residents who have been rescued from the most inhumane and unhygienic circumstances. It is a place of solace and shelter for people who are suffering from AIDS,Cancer and Kidney failures besides many who are mentally challenged. These residents who were once disowned by their families and doomed to fend for themselves have found a new reason to live. These 170 residents would have been a statistic on the list of Bangalore’s unidentified dead if Raja had not reached them.

The New Ark Mission of India has marked a turning point for the destitute people of India. It has laid a true foundation for the transformation of lives of those on the streets. We are greatly honored to present this website to bring to light the work of this organization to a local and a global audience.
